4 Questions To Ask Yourself Before Beginning Your Weight Loss Journey

Are you thinking about shedding a few pounds? It is easy to get stuck in a constant loop of eating poorly and putting exercising on the back burner. It happens though. Life gets busy and sometimes it can be easy to forget to make your physical health a priority. Trying to make any kind of significant change to improve your health is not a simple task. Deciding to lose weight is easy, the challenging part is trying to maintain those changes in the long run. Before beginning your weight loss journey, ask yourself the following list of questions. Asking and answering these questions will help you set yourself up for the very best chance at weight loss success that actually lasts.

4 Questions To Ask Yourself Before Starting Your Weight Loss Journey

What Is My Motivation To Lose Weight?

So many people decide to lose weight because they think they should, but they do not necessarily feel excited about it. They may see a picture on social media of a celebrity or influencer who has an amazing toned body and feel that they need to look that way. Sourcing your weight loss motivation from these examples is a toxic way of thinking. Your purpose to lose weight should not be to look like someone else you see. They can be a source of inspiration, but you should not be directly losing weight to look like them. You will have the best chance of losing weight and achieving fitness when you do it to find the best version of yourself; when you do it for you.

Is It The Right Time To Start?

If you are already dealing with a lot of stress with work and other things going on in your life, starting a weight loss program may be too much to take on. You may become too overwhelmed and the potential to quit and go back to old, unhealthy lifestyle habits will be increased. This can be discouraging, making it more difficult to stick to your weight loss plan. And if you do quit because it is too much to handle, it will make it that much harder to start again. Life is never perfect, but, try to time starting your weight loss program when you feel like you can handle the extra challenge. Give yourself the time to make weight loss and health a priority.

What Actions Will I Take To Work Towards Losing Weight?

A solid weight loss plan involves more than just resolving to eating healthier and skipping dessert. Weight management should address nutrition, fitness, and emotional habits. Joining a weight loss program is a great way to address all of these three key areas. A weight loss program or a personal fitness or nutrition coach will help keep you accountable and will guide you so you do not let yourself slide and succumb to unhealthy lifestyle habits once again.

How Will I Keep Track of My Progress?

Stepping on a scale and weighing yourself multiple times a day may not give you an accurate picture of your progress. If you are exercising, you may be gaining muscle as you lose weight, so the scale may not dip as much as you would expect which can seem discouraging. Weight does not always drop at an even rate. But, if you do like to weigh yourself, make sure you weigh at the same time each day to keep consistent since your weight will fluctuate throughout the day. Also, keep a journal to track increased energy levels throughout the day.

FAQs

Q: Can I lose weight just by exercising?
A: Exercising while disregarding your diet is not a good weight loss strategy. The term “abs are made in the kitchen” is a very true statement. In order to lose weight, you need to incorporate a healthy diet with exercise. To see results, you must burn more calories than you consume in a day. This is called a calorie deficit.

Q: Is cardio the only way to burn fat?
A: Cardio is traditionally known for helping with weight loss to get a lean figure. However, you must incorporate resistance training into your workouts to see better, faster results. If you want to lose weight and not look “skinny fat,” then you must incorporate weight lifting to build muscle mass and increase your metabolic rate.

Q: Where can I find a safe, and effective weight loss program?
A: The Jensen Weight Loss Program is a proven and effective premium weight loss system and in-person training experience based around personal coaching, accountability, goal-setting, and nutrition.  To find out more information, contact the Jensen Fitness Team by calling  (403) 200-0199 or by filling out our online contact form.
