How to Stay Fit Now That All the Gyms are Closed

Wondering how you'll stay fit now that all the gyms are closed because of COVID-19? While the closure of fitness facilities certainly presents some challenges, there are a number of ways you can still stay in shape during the pandemic.

For those of us who love hitting the gym, COVID-19 has made our lives even more difficult. In addition to physical distancing, self-isolating, and staying at home as much as possible, now we have to contend with one of our favourite places for our physical and mental well-being being shuttered. But there are ways to get through this difficult time, and emerge from it in better shape than ever.

Do you want to not only lose weight, but keep it off? At Jensen Fitness our Calgary virtual personal trainer and online personal trainer programs are designed to do just that. They're all about showing our clients how to create new and healthy habits so they can maintain their results for a lifetime.

How to stay in shape now that all the gyms are closed

If you're cooped up and cabin fever is starting to set in, one of the last things you may want to do is work out at home. For some people, even the act of traveling to the gym provides an emotional boost. Now that we can no longer do that, it's important to find other ways to kickstart our emotional and physical well-being routines. Here are a few ways we can do so.

1. Hire a Calgary virtual personal trainer

Just because the gyms are closed doesn't mean you can't receive quality personal training. After an initial consult over Zoom, our certified personal trainers can put together a tailored program to help keep you in shape during COVID-19. Once the program is in place, we'll carry out a live virtual training session that usually lasts between 45 to 60 minutes. The best part? Anyone in your household can participate in the workout, so your whole family can join in on the fitness fun!

2. Take part in online personal training

Another great tool for keeping in shape during the pandemic is online personal training. At Jensen Fitness, we take things a step further and include nutrition coaching and customized meal plans that are aimed at achieving your goals within our online personal training programs. These programs are tailored to your fitness goals, and consist of prerecorded instructional videos and guides that are delivered through a cutting-edge social platform.

3. Explore your neighbourhood

Whether through walking or running, take some time to get outside and explore your neighbourhood. In Calgary we're very fortunate to have an amazing network of pathways and green spaces at our disposal. Use this time to either acquaint — or reacquaint — yourself with the nature within our own backyards. Just be sure to keep at least two metres of separation between yourself and others while doing so.

4. Try to stay positive

Stress can wreak havoc on our emotional and physical well-being. If you find yourself starting to slip mentally, try taking some time to rearrange your mindset by having a bath, reading a book, or reaching out to your loved ones. You can even try to reset your emotional well-being by taking part in one of the three aforementioned physical activities. Working out not only does the body good, but the mind too.
